The back position is a great place to be, having your opponent on the defensive, reach for the lapel establishing a good grip, and use the Gi as the choke point to submit him.

Understand the Basics of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

The guys give you the basic understanding of the terms if you are watching a fight on TV, in a conversation or just want to know what these moves are when you here them on a Pay Per View fight or on TV. A must watch video if you want to get started in the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Both fighters are veteran cage fighters and Sergio Penha BJJ Black Belts, great teachers here to help you. Understanding the Basics off Jiu Jitsu, which is a ground fighting art.  Steve Cantwell and Alex Schoenauer teach you the basic moves and terminology.

Top Position Examples Below:

• Half Guard: Once you have started to progress the pass and are on top you have passed one leg.
• Side Control: This is dominant position and there is not too much the fighter can do from the bottom other than defend and escape while not getting submitted.  The bottom fighter can also try to put the top fighter back in his guard.
• The Mount: One of the most dominant positions, not much the bottom fighter can do other than escape and defend.
• The Back: Another dominating position, and again not much the fighter can do other than escape and defend.

The goal for the fighter on top is to get in the dominant positions and to get on top and pass your opponents legs.  The goal for the fighter on their back is to defend and escape using such positions like to keep them between their legs and try to submit the opponent. Or the sweep, escape and gain the top position.

Alex also points out that this is a chess match of attacking and defending to submit your opponent.  Start with the basics, side control, mount, guard, half guard and drill them over and over.  The video is a quick understanding of how to get the basic fundamentals started the get better at your Jiu Jitsu game.

Establish side control and move to the arm and position for a Kimura. Grant shows the technique to establish control of the arm as you lift and turn the arm into position.

Steve grabs the Gi getting control of the wrist and reaching over to the elbow.  A good grip of the lapel allows control of the arm and movement to turn it to apply pressure.  This is a basic BJJ arm bar technique.

Alex Schoenauer demonstrates the knee on the belly or center of chect to restrict breathing and applying weight on the opponent.  Establishing side control for control allows you many options for an arm bar..

The use of synthetic materials in the pistol grip and forearm eliminate splintering or swelling in adverse weather conditions. The ergonomics of the rifle makes the charging handle, selector switch, magazine release and the bolt catch assembly very easy to access for almost any shooter. Modular design of the Ar-15 allows use of a huge number of accessories such as aftermarket sighting devices, a vast array of optics, vertical grips, collapsible stocks, flash light systems, night vision devices, lasers, muzzle brakes and flash hiders, suppressors, bipods and many other items make the rifle adaptable to any situation or mission. The AR-15 has adjustable ghost ring sights, most have the front sight adjustable for elevation and the rear sight adjusts windage. Some models have a variation of sight configuration based on different models.

The AR-15 is a great choice of a lightweight carbine or rifle for the civilian or LE officer alike. Ammunition is readily available in the US in .223 and 5.56 mm calibers. There are many different configurations available and aftermarket parts can be added to make the rifle fit any situation that could be needed. On the Law Enforcement side, many Departments are adopting the AR-15 as a duty rifle in increase the firepower of the individual officer. Many officers carry only a handgun and/or shotgun. A rifle caliber weapon system can increase the ability of the police officer to protect him and others by controlling a larger area. As times change, the police and civilians will face terrorists and could run into heavily armed criminal groups that engage in nasty activities that require firepower to suppress. Having an AR-15 can easily even the odds with the new criminal elements these days, whether you are a police officer or the civilian headed to the store with your family.

ATAC TV: Double Fisherman’s Knot Method Two

Double Fisherman’s Knot Method Two. The knot that is used to tie two ropes together. Also used to make prusiks out of accessory cord used in rappelling.

This video you will learn how to tie the double fisherman’s knot without laying it down. Check out method one to become proficient then graduate to tying the knots while simply holding them.

Start off by taking up two segments of rope equal in length with the ends opposing each other. Grab the center and stick your thumb out. Take the rope and loop it over your thumb. Next, take the rope and loop it again, but towards your hand, not towards the tip of your thumb. Now take your thumb out and replace it with the rope as you push or feed the tail end of the rope through the hole. Pull it tight and dress it up.

Next, do the same with the other side, in the same direction you did with the first piece of rope.

Modified US Palm Grip for AK-47

US Palm makes a high quality pistol grip that is very popular on the AK-47. This video shows how this grip can be modified by CW Designs for one who prefers less hump and more stippling.

Calvin Wagner of CW Designs and Jim Fuller from Rifle Dynamics demonstrate how the US Palm grip for the AK-47 can be modified to better suit one’s specific needs. CW Designs offers a variety of polymer textures and varying degrees of stippling.

When customizing the US Palm grip, they are able to roll it out without adding any fillers. This way they are able to maintain the storage spot. If you prefer a grip without the hump, this can be removed for a more straight grip.

Remember that polymer stippling can be used on a variety of weapon systems and not just on the grips. Any polymer part can be modified such as the foregrips.
